Dear Friends and Family, We hope that you will be able to join us to celebrate in Oxford this August. The ceremony will be on Sunday 26th August in St Edmund Hall (aka Teddy Hall) with drinks and canapés afterwards in the Fellows Garden (the Graveyard!). Could you please aim to be in the Hall no later than 14.45. Then it is a short walk down the High Street to Magdalen (the one with the tower) for a small pre-dinner drink in cloisters before dining in the Hall. The bar will then be open until late for more drinking and dancing. The dress code will be Smart Fabulous - I am sure you would expect nothing less. We will also be in Oxford on the Bank Holiday Monday and would like to organise a pub/venue/park where, if you are free, you can join us for a spot of brunch/lunch/hangover cure. Please let us know if you are interested when you RSVP. We have tried to get our invitations sent out as early as possible as we know the Bank Holiday weekend is a busy time and wanted to make sure you were all free! We have put a RSVP date of 15th of July, which is the latest we need to know numbers, but if you can let us know earlier it would help us greatly with our organisation! Please reply by post or by email to RSVP@markandsteven.com and let us know of any special dietary requirements. Also with the RSVP we would like to invite you to give us your top three wedding disco tunes, the ones that always make you want to get up and dance. We can’t promise they will be played, (we will certainly have the power of veto) but we want to make sure the DJ is selecting his tunes from a certified list! Another reason for early invitations is to make sure you can all get booked into hotels for the weekend. It is a Bank Holiday and so it will get booked up well in advance. There are plenty of places to stay in and around Oxford but we would recommend booking early to make sure you get your first choice. We have included a couple of suggestions below that are near to the venues but there are lots of others to suit all requirements:
As far as travelling to Oxford is concerned it is not a very car-oriented city. There is very limited parking in the centre of town and central hotels will have no, or very limited parking available. There are good park and rides around the ring road to get you into town. The train station is on the other side of town from the venues but is an easy cab ride away; trains leave London from Paddington Station. If travelling from London, there are also frequent coaches running a 24 hour service from Victoria, either via Notting Hill (Oxford Tube) or Baker Street (X90 Oxford Express). They stop in Oxford at St Clements for Magdalen (3 min walk) or High St/Queens Lane for Teddy Hall (30secs, it’s over the road!). For the Wedding list, seeing as how we have lived together for quite a few years, we already have most of the things we need for our home. However, we’ve had most of it for ages so we would actually like some new stuff! We will therefore have a small gift list at John Lewis. The list number is 505340 but will not be available until 15th July. We are also hoping to go on Honeymoon (whenever Mark has a gap in his incredibly hectic international jetset schedule!) so if you would rather contribute to our trip than buy us a bale of towels (we would appreciate both equally as much!) then please click the subtle button below to send funds securely through the ether via PayPal. We look forward to seeing you in August! |
